    Operations Round Table- Design Thinking & Agile culture

    Operations Round Table- Design Thinking & Agile culture and its relevance have steadily increased in India with companies open to innovation and change and ready to move on from traditional forms of system and process to use of new unconventional ways.

    The operations vertical of WeSchool organized a roundtable on this theme of ‘Design Thinking and Agile’ held on August 26, 2016, at the campus. The aim was to help educate the audience on the future role of Design Thinking & Agile culture in the manufacturing sector.     Organized a panel discussion at We School, to understand the concept and significance of Goods Service Tax on the Indian Economy. According to media reports, GST is set to be a game changer – it will create one market in the country and will reduce the complexities that the companies currently encounter since each state has a different taxation system. GST will impact the tax structure, tax incidence, tax computation, tax payment, compliance, credit utilization, and reporting, leading to a complete overhaul of the current indirect tax system.

    MED4DEV: India-Israel Innovation in Affordable Healthcare

    The grand finale of the Med4Dev Hackathon in Bengaluru was held at WeSchool Campus in Electronic City on July 24, 2016. Madam Yael Hashavit, Consul General of the State of Israel was cordially invited to be the chief guest for the occasion but she could not make it due to her prior commitments. Mr. Madhavan Satagopan, CTO, Altimetrik was kind enough to accept the invitation for being the guest of honor and keynote speaker as well. There were a large number of attendees for the event that included participants for the Hackathon, representatives from NASSCOM 10000 Start-ups Warehouse, challenge sponsors, and representatives from our refreshments sponsor – Altimetrik.

    Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (WeSchool), Bengaluru announced its foundation fortnight, Neev -2016 open on the 7th of July 2016. The fortnight is a precursor to the new academic session.
    It serves as a curtain raiser to the new academic session. The fortnight is a well-arranged series of events that unfolds beautiful philosophies emerging from the thought process of many a stellar figure. It is an intensely immersive experience, wherein the different generations interact, share, learn to inspire and aspire. The established show way to the aspiring. Leading luminaries from different domains share their take on life, their success mantras and much more with the students. Thus boosting their morale and igniting their passion to excel in their chosen pursuits. The presence of eminent personalities gives young minds the right role models to emulate. The fortnight ended on 21st July 2016.
    The chief guest for the inaugural was Padma Bhushan Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty. In his address, Dr. Shetty prompted the students to have that never-ending faith in themselves, never to downgrade themselves yet not be arrogant. “Humility is an unparalleled virtue. Organizations don’t hire for skills; they hire for attitude. Skills can always be developed and taught.” said the world-renowned cardiologist.

    Global Citizen Leaders - GCL Showcase

    Global Citizen Leaders - GCL Showcase

    THE Global Citizen Leaders Program was introduced at WeSchool, Bangalore, in collaboration with the Center for Creative Leadership, USA. The class of 2015 -17 PGDM, PGDM, E-Business and Business Design and Innovation became the first batch the campus to undergo the program and also the faculty at the campus. The program was implemented in a phased manner over a period of three months. The objective of the program is to develop a student to become more aware of self and also be a socially –aware individual who is able to work courageously and collaboratively to take on complex, boundary spanning challenges. The GCL Program was included as a module in the academic curriculum and mandatory for students. Another interesting aspect of the program was that it was mandatory for Faculty at WeSchool program to participate in the program. The GCL program was conducted and executed by Mr. Anand Chandreshekar and Mr. John Lewis, the corporate trainer at Center for Creative Leadership at Singapore and USA.144 students and 16 faculties at WeSchool, campus participated in the training module. The student and faculty mentor was assigned live industry problem statements. It was mandatory for faculty and student to apply the GCL methodology and Design Thinking tools to arrive at feasible solutions. The program objective was also to instill a creative approach to solve a problem and build a teamwork approach to understand the importance of collaboration. The final culmination of the GCL program was held on 1st April 2016 and Exhibition and Showcase was held to demonstrate the GCL journey to the industry and corporate mentors. On the same day, the Graduation Ceremony to felicitate the student on completion of the program was held at the campus. Prof Christer, MDH, University of Sweden, Chief Guest for the event. The student received a certificate of appreciation from the chief guest to applaud their efforts. The event concluded with a photo session of a faculty mentor and student group with Chief Guest.
