COMPETITION: Innovative business models on renewable energy for the Indian market 30th August 2014
Business Strategy Development Competition, the finale of India-Sweden Innovations Accelerator (ISIA) programme saw students from WeSchool and iFEEL present viable business models on renewable/green energy for energy-starved rural India. The ideas were evaluated by an external jury and winning team was awarded 10-day fully sponsored internship in Sweden to learn about the green energy sector.
ISIA is sensitizing young talent to constraints in this sector and design solutions to circumvent them.
The winning team of Virendra Singh Shekhawat, Sagar Deshmukh, Shashank Angadi and Omkar Ranade presented a business plan for Exeger, a Swedish company that produces dye-sensitized solar cells.

SYMPOSIUM: Inspirational Symposium on Energy Innovations
WeSchool has been working with Mälardalen University, Sweden for 7 years and has signed MoU to encourage collaborative learning and research. As part of India-Sweden Innovationsâ Accelerator (ISIA), this symposium strengthened bilateral trade between India and Sweden through the exchange of innovative energy solutions. It was supported by Business Sweden, Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) â Green Business Centre, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Govt of India).

WORKSHOP: InterDesign - âHumanising a Metropolisâ
Attended by 30 designers from different countries and culture, the workshop aimed to leverage their local expertise to find sustainable solutions for design issues of regional, national and global importance. InterDesign is an initiative of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID). The outcome was displayed for relevant stakeholders and policymakers to action them into live projects. Health, Social Spaces, Waste Management, Education, Infrastructure were the sub-themes worked upon.

âMera Gaon, Mera Deshâ (My village, my country); Gram Sabha 2010
The 2-day seminar inaugurated by Mr. Jayant Patil discussed the impact of rural development programs covering education, energy, rural finance, healthcare, and agribusiness. Management practitioners, medical professionals, policy advisors, academicians, ministers, and local sarpanches came together to understand emerging trends in rural management sector and discuss various management solutions to the problems. âEnergy and sustainabilityâ, âThe business of agro productsâ, âEntrepreneurship at grassrootsâ, âRole of IT in rural developmentâ were discussed. -

CONFERENCE: Smart education to create Smart Citizens for creating sustainable Smart Cities
In association with VijnanBharati, WeSchool organized a two-day conference on âSmart Citiesâ, focusing on Physical Infrastructure, Social Infrastructure, Environmental Sustainability: Green Technologies, Technology, and Governance to evolve into smart cities with a special focus on the âDelivery of Civic Servicesâ to its citizens.
Shri. Venkaiah Naidu unfolded ambitious plans of PM Narendra Modi - Smart Cities mission and the Atal Mission for the Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) of 500 cities in India.

SEMINAR: âMerger of Mindsâ
The government, University of Mumbai, the Industry and Higher Education Institutions came together to create a common platform for capacity building and developing skills of WeSchoolâs faculty members as part of as a Forum of Business Schools initiative. Dr. Sanjay Deshmukh, Dr. V. V. Khole, Dr. D. Y. Patil, Prof. Dr. Uday Salunkhe, Mr. Judajit Das were present along with eminent educationists and HR practitioners. -

WORKSHOP: The MIT Media Lab â WeSchool Design Innovation
Being the biggest event in India by MITâs Media Lab, workshop housed ten tracks - ICICI Future of Banking, Imaging Experiences, Living Mobile, Design for Creative Learning, Toshiba Grassroot Engineering, Design for Sustainability, Magical Interfaces, Fabrication Laboratory, Performance Capture, and Interaction Futures. Above 25 Media Lab researchers and 350 participants delivered 84 innovative prototypes witnessed 1500+ visitors. Mr. J. S. Saharia, Mr. Kishore Biyani, Dr. Joe Paradiso and Dr. Ramesh Raskar were present.
