Dr. Preetha Chandran is a finance academic and researcher with nearly two decades of professional experience spanning higher education and banking. Her academic career includes leadership roles such as Professor and Area Chair in Finance, and she is currently serving as Professor of Finance at Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research, Bengaluru. Prior to entering academia, she worked in the banking sector with HSBC and Citi Bank, gaining valuable industry experience in retail banking and operations. She holds a Ph.D. from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, along with an M.Phil. from the University of Madras and an M.Com. from PSG College of Arts & Science.

Dr. Preetha has actively contributed to research in banking, financial technology, behavioral finance, artificial intelligence applications in finance, digital banking, and investment behavior. She has published in reputed journals and conference proceedings and has guided doctoral research scholars, and she also actively works on government-funded research projects. In addition to teaching and research, she serves as an external evaluator for doctoral programs, a board of studies member for several institutions, and a subject matter expert on academic appointment panels.

Dr. Preetha successfully completed the FinTech Course from Harvard University in 2025, attended the Research Summer School in Finance & Accounting at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta in 2022, and earned a Certificate in University Teaching from Newcastle University, Australia, in 2017.
