Swapna Pradhan is a Professor at Welingkar Institute of Management where she currently teaches the students pursuing the post graduate programme and executive education offerings. She spearheaded the launch of the Post Graduate programme in Retail Management in association with Future Group. In addition to teaching retail, she was a part of the team that created the Post Graduate programme in Business Design. In 2008, she was the adjudged the Best Teacher in Retail Management by the Dewang Mehta Foundation.
Dr. Pradhan has authored several books in the area of retailing, which include Retailing Management, Text & Cases (McGraw Hill India, 2004) and Retail Merchandising (McGraw Hill India, 2009). She has also presented papers at many national and international conferences and her current areas of interest include evolving business models in Indian retail, category management, private labels and branding. In the year 2009, she attended the Colloquium on Participant Centric Learning, at The Harvard Business School. A colloquium where HBS selected 142 members from 35 nationalities across the globe.
Before coming to Welingkar Institute of Management, Dr Pradhan was a visiting faculty at a few business schools in Mumbai and during her tenure in the corporate world she has worked with Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited in various capacities and Mayfair Knitting Industries Limited ( Zodiac) over a span of nine years.
