Mohan Chandra is a qualified Industrial Designer with a graduate PEDID from Indiaís prestigious design school, National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad (1977), and a post graduate MDes from the Industrial Design Centre at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (1987). His professional affiliations include SMIEEE (Sr. Member, Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, USA), MIET (Member, Institute of Engineering and Technology, UK), and MACM (Member, Association of Computing Machinery, USA).
Mohan spent over thirty years in the electronics industry, between 1977 and 2011, in the roles of product designer, technology manager, and business head, working in the areas of product design, systems engineering, project management, business development, and corporate management. He served with state, central, and private sector electronics establishments, Keltron, ER&DC, C-DAC, and ASL Advanced Systems Ltd, Bangalore.
With Mohanís academic qualifications as an industrial designer, and with his professional industry experience as a product designer and business manager, in 2011 Mohan moved to take up an academic role with WeSchool at Bangalore to engage in teaching in one of the latest areas of management studies, Design Thinking for business
Mohanís professional expertise include industrial design, ergonomics, productisation, systems engineering, and military type qualification and certification, covering the industry verticals of consumer electronics, computers and communication, medical electronics, power electronics, and GPS navigation systems. While in the earlier years he headed the respective Industrial Design Groups at the said organizations, his later tenures in industry were as Vice President-Technical and Vice President-Business Development.
As a faculty member and Dean of Business Design & Innovation at WeSchool, he engages in teaching and mentoring students, as well as corporate executives, in design processes, creativity and innovation, prototyping, and techniques for business creation through the concepts of design thinking.
