The recent call for educational institutions to be entitled to excellence has created multiple discussions about the objectivity of superior quality education.\u00a0 What are the key parameters in higher education that distinguish education institutions and how it could be measured are some common topics of conversations doing rounds in the academic\u00a0circles.<\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

S.P. Mandali’s Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (WeSchool) in association with CII \u2013 Western Region, recently hosted \u2018Principal\u2019s Conclave\u2019 2017 under theme \u2018Building Institutions of Excellence\u2019 on its Mumbai campus. <\/strong>The conclave attended by Deans, Vice-Principals and Directors from over forty educational institutions and colleges across Mumbai took a retrospective approach to understand and highlight the areas of improvement for new age students.<\/p>\n

The conclave saw the participation of eminent speakers such as\u00a0Mr.\u00a0Ashank Desai, Founder, Mastek;\u00a0Mr.\u00a0Rohitash Gupta, CFO, eClerx;\u00a0Mr.\u00a0Vaibhav Srivastava, Education Vertical Leader, CISCO;\u00a0Dr.\u00a0Shobhana Vasudevan, Principal, R.A. Podar College of Commerce and\u00a0Ms.\u00a0Rani Desai, Chief People Officer, Deloitte.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The academician and corporate speakers exchanged their thoughts on the role of stakeholders and relevancy of curriculum. Digitised education was another topic with many inputs from senior leadership faculty specifically emphasizing the role of technology for teaching students in the city and rural classrooms.<\/p>\n

Panel discussions on \u2018Confluence of Talent, Resources and Governance\u2019 and \u2018Best Practices and Next Practices – Learn, Work and Lead\u2019 enabled the panellists and audience to map the differences to be addressed for students in rural and urban India. Some key takeaways that emerged from these discussions include training the trainer, nurturing a relationship with alumni and staying connected with the regulatory bodies.<\/p>\n
