Nurturing
Thought Leadership Through Management Education
India since time immemorial has been establishing many firsts like
Aryabhatta’s ‘Zero’ or the classic Vedas
or the Sanskrit language which is the mother of many languages of the
world or our yoga, ayurveda or Indian art forms which are becoming an
almost universal way of life.
But the Indian track record of developing breakthrough concepts might
not have been as consistent as we would have liked it to be. We are one
of the richest countries in terms of the most important resource, which
is ‘PEOPLE’ and we need to turn that into our
advantage. We are also soon going to be the country with the largest
‘young population’.
In this backdrop, education and within that management education which
is the most sought after needs to play a defining role for the future
of India.
India fuels the talent need all over the world to a large extent. It is
not just a global hub for outsourcing but by virtue of being an
emerging economy it is a lucrative business destination for global
corporations. We possess a vast field for exploration and
experimentation as there is a potential for prosperity at the bottom of
the pyramid along with an ever increasing middle-class and the recent
distinction of some of the richest CEOs in the world being Indians.
This provides an ample opportunity to toy with ideas, theories and
‘next practices’ for every class and every segment.
This can be better achieved when responsibility, stakeholder engagement
and environmental sustainability guide every final decision and choice.
The task is humungous but the glory would be greater.
Hence AIMS this year has chosen ‘Nurturing
Thought Leadership through Management Education’
as the theme for its 20th Annual Convention along with the following
sub-themes:
1. India - the Knowledge Capital

5. Responsible Leadership
6. Voice of the Customer
7. New tools in Management
